The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a field officer Md Zahidur Rahman of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) with bribe money of Tk 200,000 from his Uttara office in the capital.
“A special team of the commission after conducting a trap case arrested a field officer of Dhaka WASA and seized bribe money of Taka 200,000 from his possession at his office at Uttara around 3:30pm today,” deputy director (public relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee told BSS on Tuesday.
The arrestee has demanded Taka 500,000 as bribe from manager of a company, Gold Coast International Limited for regularising the bill of a deep tube well which was installed on the mill premises in 2015, he also said.
The Dhaka WASA official has threatened to disconnect line of the tube well as the manager denied to give him the money and later the bribe was settled at Taka two lakh, he said, adding that following the allegation ACC formed a team to conduct a trap case to capture the official red handed with the bribe money.
ACC’s Assistant Director Md Monirul Islam filed a case against the arrestee with Uttara Purba Police Station to this end.
