The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday has dismissed one on its official from his duty and suspended another on corruption charges.
“The anti-graft watchdog sacked its assistant director SM Shamim Iqbal and suspended another assistant director Beer Kanto Roy on charge of negligence in duty, misconduct and misuse of power”, said a press release.
Ikbal, who was working at Khulna office, did not submit a charge sheet for one year in a corruption case.
In a departmental investigation, the ACC found him guilty over the allegation and sacked him from the post on May 20, 2018. He will not get pension benefits either.
Beer Kanto Roy was suspended from Dinajpur office on the same ground in a loan scam case on May 21, 2018.
ACC director general (admin) Munir Chowdhury said the punitive measures were taken to set an example and prevent other ACC officials from involving in corruption and irregularities.
The anti-graft agency is committed to take stern actions to establish internal discipline, he added.
