As many as 685 more diarrhoea patients were admitted to the icddr,b, an international health research institute in Dhaka, in the last 14 hours until 2:00 pm on Tuesday.
AKM Tariful Islam Khan, media manager of icddr,b confirmed this to The Financial Express (FE).
The growing number of diarrhoea patients put the hospital under huge pressure, he said.
On-duty doctors, nurses and health staff are also struggling to deal with the increasing number of patients, Mr Tariful stated.
A total of 1,154 patients were admitted on Monday while some 1,204 patients on Sunday.
As many as 1,286 patients were hospitalised on Saturday while at least 997 diarrhoea patients were admitted to the hospital till 5:00 pm on Friday.
A total of 1,382 patients were admitted to the hospital on Thursday while 1,370 on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, 1,379 diarrhoea patients got admitted to the icddr,b, while 1,383 on Monday and 1,171 on Sunday.
