Around 5.30 per cent of the country’s total employed population have completed tertiary level education, according to the latest data of the labour force survey.
It also showed that the number of such employed people stood at 3.2 million in the past fiscal year.
Report of the Labour Force Survey 2016-17, prepared and released by the national statistical agency, showed that total number of employed people now stood at 60.82 million.
It also revealed that one-fourth or 25.80 per cent of the employed people have completed primary education while 30.80 per cent completed secondary level.
Only 6.0 per cent of the country’s employed people have completed higher secondary level.
Data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) also showed that around 32 per cent of the people in employment have no formal education.
To put the whole status another way, 69.3 per cent of the country’s employed people are literate and rest or 30.7 per cent are non-literate.
