456 Covid-19 cases, two deaths reported in 24 hours

A total of 456 cases of Covid-19 and two deaths from the disease were reported in 24 hours, according to the latest government data released on Wednesday.

With the latest infections and deaths, the overall tally of infections has reached 2,031,006 and the total death toll increased to 29,388.

As many as 4,763 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 9.57 per cent.

Dhaka logged the highest number of cases among the eight divisions, with 321 infections.

Another 497 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,971,700.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.08 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.45 per cent.

Globally, over 622.62 million people have been infected by the coronavirus and 6.56 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
