Four people, including an autorickshaw driver, have died after a collision between a microbus and an autorickshaw in Narayanganj.

The accident occurred on the west end of the Kanchpur Bridge in the Sidhirganj Thana area around 9:25 am on Sunday, according to Nabir Hossain, chief of Kanchpur Highway Police Station.

One person was killed on the spot when the battery-run autorickshaw crashed head-on into the microbus, Nabir said. The rest died in hospital.

Three of the dead have been identified as autorickshaw driver Hanif, 25, Mamun, 30, and Nuruddin, 45. The other victim was aged about 25, police say, but they have yet to identify the body.

The four were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency department in an unconscious state, according to Inspector Bachchu Mia of DMCH Police Outpost. Doctors later declared them dead.

Another person, 42-year-old Jamal, was injured in the crash. He is currently undergoing treatment at DMCH, OC Nabir said.
