State-run West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDCL) inked Monday an agreement with Western Manpura Solar Power Ltd (WMSPL) to implement a 3.0 megawatt (MW) hybrid power plant project combining solar, battery and diesel at Manpura island.
Power Division secretary Md Habibur Rahman was the chief guest at the deal signing ceremony at Bidyut Bhaban in the city.
Joint secretary of Power Division Nirod Chandra Mandal inked the implementation agreement of the project on behalf of the Power Division, while the power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed between secretary of the WZPDCL Alamgir Kabir and managing director of WMSPL Boshir Ahmed.
Although the plant will be a hybrid one, diesel could not be used for generating above 10 per cent of the total electricity, said power secretary.
This power plant will supply around 30,000 kilowatt-hour of electricity for 20 years at the tariff rate fixed by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
A total of 20,483 clients will get electricity from this hybrid power plant.
