A total of 31 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country during the past 24 hours till 8:00 am today (Thursday).
"As many as 25 dengue patients were hospitalized in Dhaka city and six patients were admitted to different hospitals outside Dhaka during the last 24 hours," a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
"No death from dengue disease was reported this year while 281 dengue patients died last year," reports BSS citing the DGHS statement.
With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 207 this year while some seven patients were released from the hospitals.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. The outbreak of the disease is usually seasonal, peaking during and after the rainy seasons.
The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies dengue as one of the top 10 threats to public health.
