Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives arrested 27 people for allegedly being the members of notorious Agyan Party and snatcher gang in Dhaka.
The arrestees are- snatcher gang leader Md Rubel, 19, Md Arman, 21, Md Tuhin Mollah, 35, Md Shamim Sheikh, 23, Md Shanto, 19, Md Babu Miah, 32, Md Sohag, 28, Md Arshed, 25, Md Milon, 25, Md Sakib, 20, Md Sagor, 22, Babu Hossain Gazi, 26, Md Akash, 22, Md Imran, 22, Sagor, 28, Md Shanto, 22, Md Rifat Uddin 23, Md Sujon 22, Sujon 23, Wasim Akram, 22, Md Ibrahim, 22, Md Arif Hossain, 27, Md Sumon, 22, Md Kobir Hossain, 35, Md Kamrul Hasan 38, Roki Bepari, 32, and Md Sohagh, 32, reports BSS.
RAB recovered one retractable knife, 10 local sharp weapons, three anti-cutter, three boxes of poisonous ointment, two toxic spray cans, and seven mobile phones, among other things, from their possessions.
Separate teams of RAB-3 conducted simultaneous raids in the capital's Shahjahanpur, Motijheel, Paltan, Shabagh and Kamalapur areas on Thursday night and managed to detain the criminals, RAB-3 commanding officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed said.
According to the elite force sources, the arrestees used to roam around different bus stands and rail stations in the capital and target innocent passengers.
They used to drug the passengers and rob them. After the evening, they used to mug people threatening them with sharp weapons.
RAB filed five separate cases with five different police stations and handed the arrestees over to police.
