Some 2.2 million voters have got their data updated in the last two weeks.

Of them, almost 1.5 million voters are fresh while the rest 0.7 million are dead.

To update the voters’ list, the Election Commission (EC) started its door to door campaign on July 25, reports bdnews24.com.

Here the updating means adding the new voters to and subtracting the dead from the current list.

The next general election is scheduled to be held in 1919.

EC officials said the updating drive is going to end on July 9 and timeframe would not be extended.

Data analysis shows 14, 50, 711 possible fresh voters having filled up the registration form in the last 14 days.

Dhaka has the highest and Barisal the lowest with 2, 66, 373 and 57, 258 fresh registrations respectively.

Those who will be 18-year-old or older by Jan 1, 2018 are being enlisted as voters in the update campaign.
