The Geneva Challenge 2022 for Master’s students is accepting registrations

IHEID or The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva is a government-approved postgraduate educational institution in Switzerland. Its alumni boast of Kofi Annan, Nobel laureates, one Pulitzer Prize winner, and various politicians. 

The 9th edition of the Geneva Challenge aims to encourage students worldwide to come up with innovative and practical solutions to reducing global poverty.

Competition Name: THE GENEVA CHALLENGE 2022: The Challenges of Poverty Reduction

Host Country: Geneva, Switzerland

Host University: The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies

Number of Prizes: 5 (per continent: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania, South America

Degree Level: Master’s 

Prizes:

  • The presentations and submissions of the finalists will be promoted for information in relevant publications and international organisation fora, creating professional networking opportunities. 
  • The projects of the finalist teams will be showcased on the Youth Solutions platform of our partner, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth. 
  • The winning project will receive a cash prize of CHF 10’000 (ten thousand Swiss Francs). 
  • The two teams in second place will receive CHF 5’000 each. 
  • The two teams are in third place, CHF 2’500 each. 

Eligibility:

  • Participants of the ADG contest 2022 must be enrolled as graduate students at the time of their registration for the contest. 
  • We consider “graduate students” to be anyone enrolled in a post-bachelor level university programme with a maximum duration of 2 (two) years, or anyone who can prove to be studying towards acquiring a master's level degree. 
  • Participants must gather in teams of 3 (three) to 5 (five) graduate students.
