International news agency Thomson Reuters in Dhaka has donated Tk 0.11 million to Gonoshasthaya Dialysis Centre, a non-profit service institution of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, says a press release.
Serajul Islam Quadir, bureau chief of Reuters in Bangladesh, on behalf of the news agency handed over the amount to Zafrullah Chowdhury, chief of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, at a function in the city recently.
Ruma Paul, senior correspondent, Rafiqur Rahman, cameraman and Mohammad Omar Farooq, system engineer of Reuters, among others, were present at the function.
Gonoshasthaya Kendra was established by Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury and some medical colleagues in 1972 . From the beginning GK stressed the need for independent, self-reliant and people-orientated development.
Working originally in the health field it has steadily expanded the scope of its work into additional important areas that affect the lives of the majority of rural-based Bangladeshis.
