Whatever food we take, it has to have its effects on the human body - either positive or negative. Also, every food does not have the same reaction on everyone.
However, sometimes, this food becomes necessary evil, damages the human body from different aspects, and sabotages the immunity system. Such foods cannot be recommended for a healthy lifestyle.
And damaging immune system means that you will reach a point when even medicines won’t be able to cure you, let alone your body itself. So, it is wise to avoid foods that are doing irreparable damage to our immune system.
Foods with added sugar
Consuming foods with a lot of added sugar demotes the immune system, or in a broader sense, overall health. Foods that have high levels of sugar greatly raise blood pressure.
Besides, they also produce inflammatory proteins like TNF-alpha (Tumor necrosis alpha), IL-6 (interleukin 6) and CRP (C reactive protein). These proteins increase inflammation, and thus affect the immune system, especially that of diabetic patients.
Again, blood sugar increased due to the consumption of these foods may prevent the response of phagocytes and neutrophils, which are part of the immune system of the human body.
Moreover, foods with added sugar changes the immune reaction, which makes the body vulnerable to bacterial infections. These foods also cause autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis in some localities.
These types of foods include different soda and beverages, candies, sweetmeats, cakes, ice-cream etc. So, to maintain a good immune system, these foods should be avoided, or should be taken on a lesser basis.
Salty foods
Generally chips, frozen foods, fast foods etc. are considered salty foods. This type of food can cause harm to the immune system, sometimes can trigger tissue inflammation.
Salty foods can also increase risk for autoimmune diseases. The salt used in the food items may restrain natural immune operations. Sometimes, it can alter anti-inflammatory responses.
According to the researchers, in western countries, excessive consumption of salty foods results in an increase in autoimmune diseases. Additionally, existing autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, crohn’s disease etc. can get worse because of the consumption of salt with foods.
Fried foods
Fried foods contain a particular type of molecule group called AGE (Advanced Glycation End products) which is generated when sugars react with protein or fat in the presence of high temperature while cooking, or especially, frying.
If the AGE level grows high, it can cause inflammation and cellular damage to one’s body. Besides, it uses up the body’s antioxidant mechanism, promotes cellular dysfunction and creates negative effects on gut bacteria.
Fast food
The disadvantages of fast food are widely known across the world. Fast food promotes inflammation, creates bacterial imbalance in the gut and many more damages.
Again, fast food may contain two types of phthalates. This particular thing often comes from the packaging system of fast food.
Phthalates disturbs the body’s hormone producing system. It can also create immune dysregulation by increasing inflammatory proteins to weaken the body's immune response to pathogens.
There are other types of foods like high omega-6 fats-filled foods, processed and charred meats, foods with preservatives, highly refined carbs etc. These types of food should also be avoided for having an uninterrupted immune system.
