Administrative high officials and health experts in Rajshahi unequivocally called for ensuring adolescent friendly and reproductive health services to the target group, including teenagers, for the sake of attaining sound health of both mothers and children.
They vied that utmost importance should be given to ensuring the services as protection of maternal and child health. This should be considered as a precondition for materialising the dreams of developed Bangladesh by 2041.
They came up with the observation while addressing a daylong workshop titled “Adolescent Friendly Health Services and Life Skill Education” organised by Department of Family Planning (DFP) at Party Point conference hall in the city on Thursday.
The divisional advocacy workshop discussed ways and means on how to infuse dynamism into the adolescent friendly and reproductive health services.
Various issues relating to creating awareness among the adolescents about physical change, sexual and reproductive health, hygiene and nutrition for their normal and safer growth were discussed at the meeting, reports BSS.
Secretary to Health and Family Welfare Ministry GM Saleh Uddin addressed the workshop as the chief guest with DFP Divisional Director Shafiqul Islam in the chair.
The chief guest at the meeting shared that rate of maternal mortality has been reduced to 170 from 320 in every 100,000 during the last 10 years. This rate must be reduced to 70 by 2030, he added.
