Evercare Hospital conducts PFO device closure successfully

Evercare Hospital Dhaka has made a landmark historical achievement with the nation’s first ever successful PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) device closure on a young lady (age 27) with cryptogenic stroke (ischemic CVD), says a press release.

A Bangladeshi consultant and his committed team applied it on a woman (37) on October 28.

Brain strokes develop when brain tissue is deprived of blood supply. This stroke is said to be cryptogenic when the cause is unknown. According to scientific data, the most common cause for such cryptogenic stroke is caused by paradoxical embolism through a patent foramen ovale.

Those who were behind the success are Prof Dr AQM Reza, Dr Aparajita Karim and Dr Mahmood Hasan Khan – all are from Department of Clinical and Interventional Cardiology, and the cath-lab team.

These specialists are at the front lines for patients who suffer from this kind of stroke or disease. Their expert hands have laid the foundation for further successes with confidence.

Evercare Hospital Dhaka believes that together, they can help even more distressed patients who need this kind of complex surgical procedures in future.

Evercare Hospital Dhaka is the only JCI accredited Hospital in Bangladesh with international-standard healthcare. It is part of Evercare Group, present in six countries with 29 hospitals, 16 clinics and 57 diagnostic centres across two continents, in their mission to provide quality healthcare in emerging markets.
