About 500 to 600 disabled people in Myanmar with missing arms or legs will be provided free with artificial limbs under a humanitarian project of the India-Myanmar Development Cooperation, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Thursday.

Under the project, the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp has been established in South Dagon township, Yangon region with the support of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and U Nu-Daw Mya Yi Foundation.

Myanmar is the first neighbouring country of India, in which the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp was set up under an agreement signed between the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) in Jaipur, India in November 2017.

BMVSS is the technical and implementing partner of the camp sending required materials and master technicians for the camp.

BMVSS has served more than 1.71 million people with disabilities in India and around the world free of charge, said a Xinhua news report.

Under the broader Indian-Myanmar development cooperation program, a number of economic, infrastructural, developmental, cultural, social and humanitarian projects are also being undertaken in Myanmar.
