BSA to launch short film fest across country from Saturday

The eight-day “Bangladesh Short and Documentary Film Festival 2018” will begin on Saturday at 64 districts simultaneously across the country.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival at 5:00 pm at National Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Dhaka.

Shilpakala Academy is organising the festival, said an official of BSA on Friday.

A five-member jury committee will review a total of 70 films this year, he added.

The committee selected 48 short films and 22 documentary films for screening this year’s festival, reports BSS.

Of the selected films, ‘Best Film’ will get Tk 100,000, ‘Best Filmmaker’ will get Tk 50,000 and ‘special jury award’ will receive prize money of Tk 25,000 for both short films and documentary films.

Announcement of the awardees will be declared on the concluding day of the festival on December 15.
