Voice of Business (VoB), the 13 year old business magazine club of the Faculty of Business Studies of The University of Dhaka has recently launched a two-day pioneering initiative called, "The Internship Fair 2019" which took place on October 02 and 03. This club was established primarily to provide students the knowledge about writing and to differentiate them as a club by becoming the first student run publication house. But throughout all these years it evolved as a club by not limiting its work to only publishing magazines, but also by organising multiple insightful seminars and intriguing competitions for the welfare of the students all through the year. Internship fair was one of them, says a press release.

For the first time, such a unique initiative has been taken in this institution to make the students acquainted with the ever dynamic corporate world and introduce them to the skills needed for the 21st century. The event was arranged so that students understand their strengths and weaknesses as they rarely get the opportunity to know about the ever changing skills requirements of jobs these days.

Furthermore, this initiative is one of a kind as it gives the students a unique platform, a pathway to make them introduced with the current job market and prepares accordingly. By knowing about these opportunities students can get involved in the broader economy and can contribute to the country's economic progress.

In a press conference held by the organisers, they said that the event has been launched by considering the needs and demands of the current competitive job market. This would help the students gather a real time experience about current business world situation, to adapt themselves with organisational culture and to prepare themselves fit and skilled enough to cater according to the expected demands.

A seminar was organised at Dr Habibullah Conference Hall, University of Dhaka where high officials of several local and multinational reputed companies were present. The first day of the event ended with a speech from Azmain Adil, president, VoB. He, along with the faculties of the university, handed a token of gratitude to the officials from Banglalink, Arla, ITA, Eon, Crab and hotelwaves.com. The invited speakers and guests emphasised how to stand out among all the competitors and break through one's limitations towards chasing their respective cherished dreams. The key here is to confidently accomplishing small steps towards their target in this competitive world. They mostly focused on the facilities provided for the interns, the desired qualities demanded from an intern in this century like soft skills, entrepreneurship, extra co-curricular activities, leadership etc.

Besides, the session also included the traits, behavioural and moral aspects that a good employee should possess. Moreover, most importantly, the main focal point of the programme was to prepare a strong, standard and stand out CV as per as considering the aspects of career objective, company culture, personal strengths and weaknesses. The discussion included the qualities that a well decorated CV should consist like a well-dressed formal photograph, skills, experience, education, references etc and must be catered to industrial requirements.

Students got a direct access to submit their CVs on spot on October 03, where several local and multinational companies had their stalls and their representatives gave a brief to all those students who came to drop their CVs. They educated the students with the pros and cons of the respective company.

Although this event was mainly targeted for senior level university students, this fair was open for all the university students. They could easily know and understand about the firms and the respective industries that they might be working for in the future.

Unlike any other event of VoB, this event was very impactful for the students and this initiative provided a perfect platform for the students to be aware about the industrial insights and adapt with the current age of the fourth industrial revolution.
