BUP VC Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari and Grameenphone CEO Michael Patrick Foley inaugurating BUP Career and Education Fest 2018

‘BUP Career and Education Fest 2018’ kicked off in the campus of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) on September 12 to provide an opportunity for future graduates to know about certain companies of our country.  A unique platform exhibiting booths of well-renowned companies across the country aims to help job-seekers enlighten themselves on the career paths they aspire to walk up.

For the past three years, BUP Career club has managed to pull off the Career and Education Fest with considerable success and this year the dream of transforming the fest into something bigger could not have turned into a reality without the gold sponsor Pathao, in association with bKash.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh University of Professionals, Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari inaugurated the fest by declaring the three-day long job fair open. Other higher officials, deans, faculty members, club moderator, representatives from companies and the club members joined in to make the opening session livelier.

During the early hours, the VC along with the other officials, guided by the club president and vice-president visited all the company booths, passing by a few and spending quite some time in others, enthusiastically asking the officials of the companies.

With the core objective to ensure job placements and internship opportunities through this fest for the students of BUP, especially for the graduating batch, BUP Career club affiliated with the various well-established organisations. The companies that had their booths set up on the campus are: Talencentric, HR Bangladesh, Front Desk Bangladesh, Enroute International, Pathao, bKash, Banglalink, Pfec, Kazi IT, Daraz, Ghoorni, Epillion Group, Hamim Group, Expo Group, A&D, Apex, Rahimafrooz, Reckitt Benckiser, Asian Paints, Confidence group, UPS, Praava Health, Edison Group-Symphony, and Bangladesh Edible Oil.

The representatives from each company were assigned a booth where they along with the club members collected the CVs of the interested visitors and answered the enquiries of the keen job-seekers.

While the final-year students were spotted showing the utmost zealousness to try to extract insights about the recruitment and job opportunities by interacting and conversing with the company executives, pupils in their senior years were busy dropping their resumes to crack down favourable internship offers. The freshers and sophomores, on the other hand, were enjoying the exuberant job fair environment, crowding in front of the stalls. The executives enjoyed interacting with the students while making the best utilisation of this opportunity to increase their companies' exposure.

Later in the day, BUP's campus was teeming with footsteps of its students, alumni and official visitors, Students went up to the booths of a few notable companies like Grameenphone, Banglalink, Pathao, bKash, Daraaz and so on- to involve themselves in the networking sessions with the executives. They also learnt more about how the corporate world operates in the world of highly competitive market.

Due to the relentless efforts and contributions of the hard-working club members who had been working continuously for the past few months- BUP Career club could not have gone through the ordeals of making this Career and Education fest a success.

The outcome of the efforts showed when the first day of the fest came to an end with satisfied and excited faces all over the campus.
