University Press Limited (UPL) on Wednesday wrapped up a 12-day annual grand sale of its publications and foreign books attracting huge responses from the bookworms.
Eminent publishing company UPL hosted its 14th annual grand sale and this year for the first time, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Dhaka University co-hosted the event with a view to add a new dimension to the book fair.
Rakib Islam Siam, one of the members from the organising team, said though UPL has been arranging such event every year, this year the arrangement was the biggest so far and public responses were also very encouraging.
The theme for this year was, ‘40 years of working towards a knowledge-based society: excellence in research of the social sciences’.
The book fair was open to the public every day from10 AM to 8 PM until the16th of May, 2018. The location this year was on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Social Sciences building, at the Dhaka University campus, reports UNB.
Over a thousand books published by UPL, both in English and Bangla, and over a thousand books by well-known foreign publishers were made available at the fair at very attractive discounts starting from 30 per cent and up to 70 per cent, as part of the UPL's constant effort to encourage readership among the public.
