UGC allows private universities to conduct practical classes, examinations

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed private universities to conduct laboratory-based practical classes and examinations of last semester’s students maintaining all health guidelines.

The UGC on Monday issued a seven-point directive for the universities in this regard, reports BSS.

The directives, signed by UGC Director Dr Md Fakhrul Islam, were sent to the vice-chancellors and registers of all private universities.

The UGC directed the universities not to conduct more than one class or examination in a day, maintaining health guidelines of WHO, not allowing more than ten students in a class or examination and to conduct oral tests online.

It asked the private universities to ensure the arrival of students not more than 3o minutes before their examination or class.

The authorities of the private universities have been directed to ensure that students leave their campus within 30 minutes of finishing the examination or class.

The regulatory agency for higher education also asked the universities to ensure six feet distance while conducting practical classes and exams.

If any of the students, teachers, officials or staff infects with Covid-19, the respective university has to take responsibility for him or her and bear all the medical costs, it added.
