Hult Prize at Asian University of Women (AUW), supported by LankaBangla Securities Limited, organised the closing ceremony to pull the curtains of the on-campus round of this highly acclaimed international business competition on Friday.
The winning team ‘Team Radiant’ and the first runner-up ‘Team Palmyrah’ advanced towards the regional round by winning the on-campus round.
Hult Prize is a year-long business competition where students from different universities around the globe get exciting opportunities to solve the social issues which are happening around the planet through their innovative business models.
This year’s theme is based on creating meaningful work opportunities, as part of which the participating teams had to come up with business ideas that will employ at least 2,000 people by 2024 while creating a positive impact on the world.
This year, Hult Prize was hosted for the fifth time at AUW and more than 100 students participated in the competition and top 6 teams proceeded towards the Grand Finale of the on-campus round.
On the special occasion of the closing ceremony, the judges of the final round of the competition were Monjurul Haque, the Founder of Barcode Group; Saloni Sahani, a young entrepreneur and marketing aficionado; Pilar Avendaño Antunez, a Mexican specialist in socio-environmental entrepreneurship, systems practice, and development; Mr Syed Mureed Abbas Bukhari, CEO of Agribyt; Md Nasimul Huda, the Senior Executive Officer of Bank Asia Ltd.; and Monir Ahmed, Managing Director at NCS Apparels.
The winning team members from Team Radiant are Tasneem Rahman, Parameshwaram Prabhashani Madhumitha, Fatematuz Zuhra and Showmiya Segaruban, while the team members from Team Palmyrah, the first runner up, are Rasy Hai, Christine Thevamirtha, Sovannary Rith and Thu Nguyen Anh Dinh. Team Lilith emerged as the second runner up.
