A networking conference on journalism was held at Rajshahi University (RU) on Friday aiming to enhance the education quality of journalism students.
The organisers have also another aim to enhance the relationship among the institutions connected to journalism field.
RU Mass Communication and Journalism Department (MCJ) and DW Akademie, one of the leading international media organisations in Germany, jointly arranged the conference at the university senate building.
The heads of journalism departments of twenty public and private universities of the country, academicians and students participated in the conference.
RU Vice-chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the daylong conference as the chief guest.
RU Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Shaha and the head of DW Adademie for Asia and Europe regions addressed the session as special guests.
According to UNB, RU MCJ department Chairman Associate Professor Pradip Kumar Panday presided over the meeting while Assistant Professor Naziat Hossain Choudhury conducted the conference.
Addressing the inaugural session, RU VC Professor Abdus Sobhan said, "Journalism is a noble profession and to be a person having all the qualities of good journalist there is no alternative of training as through training one can get the chance of correcting himself."
He also urged the students and journalists to keep them refrained from yellow journalism.
