Registration for the 3rd edition of 'Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid', one of the most popular TV reality shows, began officially on Wednesday.
Country's one of the leading brands- Ispahani Mirzapore- has been hosting the Bengali linguistic competition and TV reality show since 2017 aiming to motivate the young generation to practise and use correct Bangla language.
Organisers at a press conference came up with the announcement at the city's Channel-i building on Wednesday.
National Professor Rafiqul Islam spoke at the press meet as chief guest while Director General of Bangla Academy (DG) Habibullah Sirajee spoke as special guest.
Prof Rafiqul Islam termed the event as a unique move to promote Bangla language.
He observed that Bangla language has more practice in the country than before but it is a matter of regret that still there are some organisations which avoid using Bangla in their signboards.
He also criticised those who ignore Bangla and are reluctant to educate their children in Bangla.
He, however, hoped that the event will take 'Bangla language as high as we love to see it'.
Thanking the organisers for arranging such an exquisite learning event on the mother language, Habibullah Sirajee said, "I'm impressed to witness the 'Ispahani Mirzapore Banglabid' as part of the journey to establish Bangla as high as the country's braved sons shed their blood for."
Managing Director of Channel-i Faridur Reza Sagar who chaired the press meet said the organisers are happy to arrenge such event where students are very keen to participate with deep love along with their parents.
Directors of M M Ispahani Limited Zahida Ispahani, Emaad Ispahani and Ali Ispahani were present while General Manager of Ispahani Tea Limited Omar Hannan gave details of the competition.
'Banglabid' Prof Soumitra Shekhar, renowned writer and poet Anisul Hoque and media personality Tropa Majumder who are judges of the competition also spoke.
Winners will be selected based on competency in Bangla - including spelling, correct pronunciation and exact use of grammar.
The first three winners will get Tk1.0 million, Tk 0.3 million and Tk 0.2 million each respectively.
Also, the first 10 winners will receive a laptop along with Bangla books and a bookshelf worth Tk 50,000 each to set up his or her own library.
Initially, students of classes VI to X from eight divisions and Cumilla district will take part in the competition.
After primary selection, the participants will be brought to the Channel-i studio in Dhaka and their performance will be telecast.
