Four-day international conference titled 'DaffodilIMUN-2020' (Daffodil International Model United Nations-2020) ended on January 05, 2020, at Shawdhinata Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU) at Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka.
Professor Dr Farhana Helal Mehtab, associate dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of DIU was present at the closing programme as the guest of honour. Rokonuzzaman Sajal, representative of UNFPA, Abdul Barique, owner of Rajbari Publishers and Rafi Al Mahmud, convener of Daffodil IMUN-2020 were also present at the closing programme, among others.
The theme of the conference was "Empowering Good Governance and Sustainable Development through Youth Partnership 2030". More than 350 delegates from the national and international levels attended this conference. United Nations, Bangladesh was the associated partner and UN Information Center, Dhaka was the knowledge partner and Daffodil International School and Daffodil International College were the organising partners of DaffodilIMUN-2020.
Serving as a platform where around 350 delegates from various countries participate together to diplomatically debate, which in turn leads to effective solutions to the world's most pressing issues, DaffodilIMUN connects not only delegates with this platform, but with each other.
DaffodilIMUN2020 confirms the preparation of all participants to attain knowledge and high-level skills that can be put to good use in the future, which includes possession of accomplishments for a better understanding of global dynamics and their elucidation and the ability to relate and further manage affiliations with the globalised world.
Professor SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder said that Daffodil International University always takes initiative to create a young leader. No doubt that many young leaders will flourish through this conference. He told the students that they have the responsibility to make the world a safer place to live in.
In the closing programme, Dr Farhana Helal Mehtab distributed prizes among 24 participants in three categories of Best Delegates, Outstanding Delegates, and Special Mention. She said that Model United Nations is the best platform for exploring leadership of young students. This platform is working on young leadership all around the world. Bangladeshi students can explore their leadership skills through this platform.
The four days of the conference were enjoying with the representation of different countries and practicing diplomacy along with the proceedings of the UN.
