Junior Chamber International, commonly referred to as JCI, is a non-profit international non-governmental organisation for young people between 18 and 40. The headquarter of JCI is in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It has operations in more than 120 countries, and the total member count is more than 2,00,000 worldwide.
Currently, more than 25 local chapters of JCI are working in Bangladesh. JCI Dhaka West is the largest and oldest of them all.
In this event, more than 200 able-bodied, physically and mentally challenged, underprivileged kids and teenagers from around 40 schools in the capital participated on the same platform.
Prof Shahid Akhtar Hossain, vice-chancellor of Eastern University, was the chief guest at the event. Shathira Jakir Jessy, former national women's team cricketer and the first female international cricket commentator of Bangladesh, was present as the special guest while JCI Dhaka West President Md Altamis Nabil was the convener of the event.
Altamis Nabil said, "The aim of this programme is to create a more active, innovative, and sensible future generation for the country. From the following year, we are planning to take this competition to a national level from our JCI global networks."
Eminent and renowned painters in the country Mehedi Haque, Morshed Mishu, Reesham Shahab Tirtho, and Bishwajit Goswami were the judges of the competition.
The chief advisor for 'Battle of the Brush 5.0' was Ziaul Haque Bhuiyan, secretary general of JCI Bangladesh. Md Tanvir Hasan, AK Azad Rafi, Muhammad Nayeem Akhtar, and Sujaur Rahman Emon served as co-conveners.
While the aim of the event is to develop responsible citizens that will lead the country in the future, the successful execution of 'Battle of the Brush 5.0' shows a glimmer of hope in that regard. At present, Bangladesh needs more all-inclusive activities and events for youngsters. The nation can hope for more events like this where youngsters from demography can flaunt their skills and get recognition.
