Pijus Saha, professor of Jahangirnagar University's Pharmacy department, died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in the capital this afternoon.
He was 51.
Professor Saha breathed his last at around 4:30pm while undergoing treatment at Lab Aid Hospital in Dhaka, said Professor Didare Alam Mushsin, chairman of the JU's pharmacy department, reports BSS.
Pijus was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening as he fell sick, he said.
JU vice-chancellor Professor Nurul Alam expressed profound shock at the death of Professor Saha.
In a condolence message, the VC also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
