The Office of the Career Guidance and Placement of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has organised a job fair for its students and graduates on the university campus in the capital.
Rashed Chowdhury, Former Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, inaugurated the fair held on the Bashundhara campus on Monday as the Chief Guest.
Javed Hosein, Member, Board of Trustees; Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting), IUB; Md. Abdullah Iqbal, Deputy Director, Career Guidance and Placement, IUB; Ms. Zara Mahbub, Country Director & CEO, KITC Ltd; and Sheik Ehsan Reza, Head of Human Resource Management, Bashundhara Group were present at the daylong fair.
The objectives of organising and implementing of the IUB Job Fair were in second-fold, says a media release.
The IUB arranged the job fair firstly, to create opportunities for the university graduates and students to know about the leading companies and organisations of the country.
The fair also took the students through the operational procedures of participating organisations; their vision, mission and values and created avenues towards obtaining suitable jobs and crafting desired professional careers, says a release.
Secondly, the participating companies also got enormous possibilities of choosing resourceful and promising professionals who can really become the assets for these organisations in order to expanding and achieving their ultimate business and operational goals.
During Chief Guest’s speech Mr Chowdhury mentioned that every year the job fair is getting better with more quality companies participating enthusiastically.
He requested the students to take the advantage of it for having dream careers.
Javed Hosein, in his speech, stated IUB endeavours to produce quality professionals for the industry.
Job Fair is one of the ways to determine as to how IUB alumni should be prepared for the market, Mr. Hosein underscored.
Prof. Milan Pagon spoke about the employability. He urged students to be employable instead of looking for typical jobs.
However, these are only possible through acquiring required knowledge because now a day’s job security comes from competence and expertise.
A total number of 46 multinational and national companies and organisations took part in the Job Fair.
Through different stalls, they collected significant number of CVs from potential IUB candidates who will later have the opportunity to kick-off their promising professional career.
