A uniform and harmonised framework can ensure the standard and quality in the country’ existing multipronged education system, said speakers on Tuesday.

The speakers at a participatory workshop styled Development of Bangladesh Qualification Framework (BQF) made the comment at a hotel in the capital.

The programme was organised by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), in support with the ILO’s European Union-funded Skills 21 project.

A Bangladesh Qualification Framework is needed to facilitate lifelong learning by opening up access, attracting investment and recognising non-formal and informal learning, the speaker added.

The BQF is a nationally and internationally recognised system by which a learner can get the global orientation, they said.

The workshop gathered stakeholders and created awareness amongst them to gain their support to develop a unified or harmonised Bangladesh Qualification Framework (BQF).

During the workshop it was emphasised that the development of BQF would strengthen national qualification systems by harmonising sub-systems of qualifications such as higher education and adult learning while supporting and encouraging education and learner/worker mobility both nationally and internationally.

Md. Alamgir, secretary of Technical and Madrasah Education Division, chaired the event.
