GP to provide free internet for schools

Grameenphone (GP) is going to provide free data package to BRAC supported schools to create online access to marginalised children across the country.

BRAC signed a partnership agreement with Grameenphone to ensure the internet access to over 200,000 children for free.

Asif, Senior Director (Strategy), Communication and Empowerment, of BRAC, and Abul Kasem Mohiuddin Al-Amin, Chief Procurement Officer of Grameenphone, signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides on Sunday.

According to the agreement, Grmaeenphone will provide 250 (two hundred fifty) 3G WiFi routers, SIM cards to the schools through BRAC Gonokendra programme. 

GP will also provide free data package (5 GB per month) to a total of 500 schools till December 31, 2018, said a press release.  

As for the BRAC, they will ensure proper distribution of the modems and SIMs amongst 250 selected schools under the agreement.

Mahmud Hossain, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of GP, and Masum Billah, Manager, ICT of BRAC Education Programme, were also present at the signing ceremony.
