Since it's inception in 2017 the flagship event entitled 'TEXBIZ' run by Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) Business Club has been running a successful venture throughout the country. This year the 'Morrison TEXBIZ 2019' started the journey to equip the undergrad students and provide them a platform with the necessary skills and strategies to face the business challenges that arise in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh.

Morrison is a global leader in the textile finishing machinery.

The competition started off with road-shows which were conducted in 20 universities of Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi and Barishal between June 25 and July 18, 2019. The competition ran through two extensive phases of online round and the on-spot presentation round. Over 170 teams from 48 universities throughout the country participated in this grand competition.

Later, the potential students were invited and given the opportunity to be part of the knowledge sharing platform. The ultimate competition started with an online submission round where students were given a case to solve.

From the online round, 28 teams from 173 submissions were selected for their outstanding solution to the case related to the jhuta (rejected garments lot) business in Bangladesh for the second round. All the teams tried their best to solve the unsolved puzzle of the given scenario. The teams comprised three to four members.

One of the members from team Adroiters, Rifat Dewan expressed his joy coming to BUTEX campus on July 27, 2019 for the second round. He exclaimed, "We never thought we could get into the second round as we had to face challenges regarding the case. In no way this case was easy for us as it was not a common thing to have the knowledge about this jhuta business. But thanks to my team and Google with all the information related to jhuta for helping us come up here".

Saki Samonti, another second year participant from Team Auspicious 3.0, was very excited to have participated in the competition. This was her first competition of this type, but she was confident that her team might win the 'Youngsters of TEXBIZ' award worth Tk 10,000. When asked why she is not confident about the championship award worth Tk 50,000, or the first and second runners-up award worth Tk 30,000 and Tk 20,000 respectively, she answered with a shy smile, "Well, we are a new team in the circuit and not yet that much experienced like the teams that have come from DU-IBA, NSU, IUT or BUP. They are the pros in this sector, while we are just novices. So, I am keeping my hopes down and willing to win the 'Youngsters of TEXBIZ' award."

The participants were given a grooming session by Tanzir Islam, an IBA graduate who is a very prominent face in the sector of case competitions. The participants after the grooming session got four hours' time to solve the on-spot round case. With an exciting battle of wits for the next three hours, eight teams were selected after a scrutinised procedure by eight judges, who were given the opportunity to participate in the grand finale of 'Morrison TEXBIZ 2019' to be held on August 03, 2019.
