EY ties up with IBA to impart IT training

The UK-based Ernst and Young (EY) through its Indian subsidiary has tied up with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) under the  University of Dhaka (DU) to start an `Advanced Certification for Management Professionals (ACMP) Programme' this month.

According to a BSS report, the programme will be conducted under the Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project to provide IT training for the mid-level managers of IT firms to boost the IT sector.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the IBA and the EY on August 10 at the office of the Treasurer of DU in this regard, said a media release.

DU Treasurer Professor Md. Kamal Uddin and EY Project Director of Business Advisory Services Bidyut Thakur signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Management Specialist of the LICT Project Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad and Communication Specialist Ajit Kumar Sarkar, Professor and Director of IBA Dr. AKM Saiful Majid, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Management Development Programme of IBA Sheikh Morshed Jahan were present.

The EY will provide 500 mid-level managers of IT and IT-Enabled Services (ITES) firms with managerial and technical training as per the MoU.

Mr Kamal Uddin said the collaboration between the IBA and the UK-based EY would help ensure quality training for the mid-level managers of IT firms and develop them as skilled human resources.

The mid-level managers play a vital role for expanding business of their respective firms, but lack of skills creates obstacles on way to flourish the IT/ITES companies, he said.
