The Department of Social Relations of East West University (EWU) has organised a seminar on ‘Adolescents sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) enabling environment issues in Bangladesh’.
The university arranged the seminar at its S M Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery on the EWU campus in the capital on Monday.
Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, was present at the event as Chief Guest, says media release.
Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain Khan, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Social Relations, EWU conducted the seminar as programme Chair.
Following guest speakers from UNICEF Bangladesh delivered their speeches on the seminar: 1. Dr. Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, Health Specialist (Maternal, Adolescent Health), 2. Ms. Myeongshin Lee, Programme Officer (Health Communication) and 3. Ms. Tania Sultana, Communication for Development Specialist.
They described the current scenarios of ASRH issues in Bangladesh, said the media release.
The speakers also focused on how the young generation can improve awareness and reduce all kinds of barriers, and cultural taboos related to ASRH services and information.
A large number of faculty members and students of the university participated in the seminar.
