Dhaka University bans ‘Rag Day’ celebration

Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to impose a ban on ‘Rag Day’ celebration on the campus.

The university has decided to impose a bar on arranging inhuman, unkind and unethical programme in the name of ‘Rag Day Celebration’ on the campus and to form an Ethical Review Committee in each faculty of the university.

The decisions came at a virtual meeting of academic council at Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom adjacent to the VC’s office with DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, reports BSS citing a press release today.

From the meeting, all the faculty members, departments and institutes were given approval to take the unfinished exams and publish the final results in a coordinated manner following the hygiene rules.

 The need of taking new basic research projects and research publications were stressed in the meeting on the occasion of the centenary of the university and the golden jubilee of independence.

DU Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, Pro-VC (Academic) Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, deans of faculties, Chairmen of Departments, directors of institutes and more than three hundred members of Academic Council were present at the meeting.
