Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) has awarded scholarship to 3,019 students who passed HSC/Equivalent Examination in 2017 and studying at Graduation level in different universities or colleges of the country.
The ceremony was held at Shaheed Surhawardy Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on Sunday.
Finance Minister Abul Maal A Muhith was present as the chief guest while the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq and the Governor of Bangladesh Bank Fazle Kabir were present as special guests and handed over the scholarship awarding letters among the recipients, according to a press release.
DBBL’s Board of Directors Chairman Sayem Ahmed presided over the function.
Dutch-Bangla Bank, under its social cause programme, has been awarding scholarship to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at Higher Secondary and Graduation levels.
Under this initiative, a total number of 50,679 students got DBBL scholarship among which 21,187 students of different levels are receiving the scholarship at present.
Minister Abul Maal A Muhith in his oration profusely lauded the scholarship programme of the bank and recalled other philanthropic activities of its. He appreciated the DBBL’s continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and termed this Scholarship programme as a unique example of helping the meritorious and needy students of the country.
Minister Anisul Huq praised the role of DBBL in connection with philanthropic activities to stand by the distress people of the country, adding that DBBL is also a pioneer in providing modern banking services to its clients. He congratulated the scholarship awardees and expected that they would dedicate themselves by achieving real education.
