The grand finale of the unique business strategy competition "BUP BCC presents Corporiddlerz 2019 Powered by NRBC Bank" took place on November 17, 2019 at the Bijoy Auditorium, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
Every year, Corporiddlerz exhibits the decision-making and strategising qualities of the participants all around the country. Undergraduates from various disciplines who are interested in getting a pragmatic taste of the corporate rush signed up for the hyped competition forming teams of four. In the fullness of time, the month-long business contest finally ended on a high note.
After three intensely challenging rounds, six teams made it to the grand finale: Mudblood, Team Miscellany, Leftover Pizza, Blank Balance, Corporate Commandos and In Sane. The six teams were assigned a case which they had to solve and present on stage in front of the audience, stakeholders and judges alike. The final case was integrated with the previous rounds, and the task was to select three particular regions from each division of Bangladesh and to develop a water resourcing model that will not only solve the problems of contaminated water in Bangladesh but also serve as a CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity leveraging the fictional company, Mr Fresh.
In the wake of spectacular solutions and presentations, from the six worthy finalists, team Blank Balance bedazzled everyone and won the championship title as well as grabbed the grand prize money of Tk 100,000. Team Mudblood awed the judges and became the first runner-up, winning Tk 75,000. Both the champion and runner-up teams belong to Bangladesh University of Professionals, therefore, their home ground rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Team Miscellany from IBA, University of Dhaka secured the second runner-up position and took Tk 50,000 by showcasing great performance.
"I will never forget the moment when our team was announced the winner, it was magical. It felt great to see all that hard work finally paid off. Corporiddlerz has been one memorable experience, and it is undeniably one of those competitions that stretch your ability and bring out the best in you," Sabian Ishtiak from Champion Team Blank Balance said.
The judge panel for the final round of Corporiddlerz 2019 included corporate personalities of the country: Dr M Shahid Iqbal Sarkar, CEO of Army Pharma, a concern of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory; Jane Alam Romel, group chief marketing officer, IDLC; Md Emdadul Haque, director of Infrastructure Service Management, Banglalink; Jenefa Jabbar, director, HRLS & Social Compliance, BRAC.
Dr M Abul Kashem Mozumder, pro vice-chancellor of BUP, was present as the chief guest. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, chairman of the Board of Directors of Padma Bank Limited, and GM Kamrul Hassan, CEO of Igloo Ice Cream and Foods were present as special guests of the event.
The grand finale ended with a sumptuous dinner party. The journey of Corporiddlerz 2019 would not be buoyant without the cooperation of guests, judge panels, and the enthusiastic participants.
