Milton Berle once said, "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door". East West University Business Club (EWUBC) is building that door of opportunity for undergraduates and fresh graduates by organising a guidance programme -- Career Clinic 2019.
Entering into the job market is much more than just submitting applications and watching the offers come rolling in. It is about finding a good fit and concisely conveying one's career trajectory.
In this era of competitiveness, students are often unclear about their career choices. A job can offer a bundle of money but sometime fails to bring any growth or fulfillment. Before entering into the job market, graduates possess very little knowledge about the industries which is not enough to choose a career path. When the students do not have ample knowledge about the industries, they often make wrong choices.
Career Clinic, being conducted this month, intends to guide the fresh graduates to discover the most fitting career as well as enrich their skills and knowledge. The programme is designed to familiarise students with the reality of recruitments and get introduced with the corporate world. It will also give the students a place to be evaluated by the professionals for their development.
Earlier, similar programme was held in October 2015 and January 2018. Both programmes were encouraging for the undergraduate students and fresh graduates of East West University.
This year, Career Clinic 2019 has been designed with three different segments -- 'CV writing workshop', 'Industry overview session' and 'Career check-up session'.
The CV writing workshop, conducted by corporate personnel on March 19, was helpful for the students to know effective ways of CV writing. Students submitted their CVs for evaluation. The industry overview session, to be held on March 28, will enlighten the students and fresh graduates about career opportunities in different industries, current job market scenario and the growth of industries. In the career check-up session which will be held on March 30, participants will get the opportunity to face the human resource personnel of their dream company in a mock interview session.
As many as 70 persons representing 20 different companies of eight industries of the country are expected to attend the sessions.
Every university can arrange such events on regular basis to help the students develop their ideas about the industry and raise their confidence level.
