520,820 teachers to get ICT training: Minister

Some 520,820 teachers will get training as part of as government plans to expand ICT technology and multimedia usages at education institutions across the country.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid gave the information on Sunday while replying to a question from treasury bench lawmaker Bazlul Haque Harun of Jhalakathi in the Jatiya Sangsad, reports BSS.

 “The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved “Introduction of ICT at Secondary and Higher Secondary Project (Phase-II)” on April 4, 2017,” he said.

The minister said the government would install multimedia classrooms to 31,340 educational institutions and provide training to 520,820 teachers under the project.

Replying to another question from treasury bench member M Abdul Latif, Nahid said the government trained 442,091 class teachers aimed at increasing efficiency on creative education under “Secondary Education Sector Development Programme (SESDP)”.

 “The government has also provided training to 5,09,556 class teachers of different subjects including 67,465 class teachers under “Secondary Education Sector Investment Programme (SESIP)”, the minister informed the House.
