S Africa's CPI to slow in February

The headline consumer inflation of South Africa slowed to 4.0 per cent year-on-year in February from 4.4 per cent in January, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Tuesday.

On a month-on-month basis, inflation of the second largest economic country of Africa rose to 0.8 per cent in February from 0.3 per cent in January, reports Reuters.

The core inflation, which excludes the prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages, petrol and energy, was unchanged at 4.1 per cent, on year-on-year, in the previous month.

On a month-on-month basis, the core inflation quickened to 1.1 per cent from 0.2 per cent previously.
