Blasts to hit economy, tourism, says Lanka PM

Attacks on three Christian churches and three hotels in Sri Lanka will hurt the economy and tourism, and law enforcement authorities have been asked to find the perpetrators, Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, reports ECONOMYNEXT.

"There will be a downward trend," Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said. "Tourism will get affected. There may be fund outflows."

The blasts had killed 138 persons and injured over 400 persons health officials said.  There were at least nine foreigners among them.

Wickremesinghe condemned the attacks and said security forces and police had been given instructions to take action against those responsible.

He declined to name the perpetrators and said police will update the public after investigations.

Wickremesinghe said the President, Minsters key officials had discussions on the issue and the next steps to be taken.
