The government has proposed to increase allocation for the development and modernisation of technical and madrasa education by 29.45 per cent to Tk74.54 billion from Tk57.58 billion.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in his budget speech for the fiscal year (FY) 2019-20 on Thursday said, "The government has taken numerous steps for the development and modernisation of madrasa education."
"Infrastructures of madrasas will be developed and multimedia will be set up in classrooms. Free textbooks are being distributed at dakhil and ebtedaayee levels to remove discrimination in education," he added.
Besides, a total of 1,800 new madrasas are being established across the country.
