Growth of the transport, storage, and communication sector is likely to decline in the current fiscal year (FY 2017-18), according to the provisional estimation of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
It showed that transport, storage, and communication sector may post 6.33 per cent growth in FY18 which was 6.76 per cent in FY17.
There are five sub-sectors in the sector which is also a part of the greater service sector of national economy.
BBS estimate showed that the growth of both the land and water transport sub-sectors would decline while air transport may increase.
Beside these, support transport services and storage sub-sector and post and telecommunications sub-sector are also likely to register lower growth over the past fiscal year.
Overall contribution to the transport, storage, and communication sector is also expected to decline at 11.12 per cent in the current fiscal year which was 11.26 per cent in the past fiscal year.
