State-owned banks donate Tk 50m to PM Fund

State-owned Sonali Bank Limited, Janata Bank Limited, Agrani Bank and Rupali Bank Limited jointly donated Taka 50 million to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare fund to help fight deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the donation through videoconferencing from her official residence Ganobhaban on Sunday.

Sonali Bank Limited Chairman Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui, Agrani Bank chairman Zaid Bakht, Rupali Bank Limited Managing Director and CEO Md Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Janata Bank Limited Managing Director and CEO Abdus Salam Azad handed over the cheque of donation to PM's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus at the Prime Minister's Office.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister extended her sincere thanks to the banks for coming up with the helping hands in this critical juncture of the nation. She also said that the nation would recognise the banks' contribution whole heartedly for fighting Covid 19 pandemic.

Agrani Bank Limited has donated Tk 12.5 million in cash and 5,000 pieces of PPEs (Personal Protection Equipment) to the Relief Fund of the Prime Minister for the treatment of coronavirus patients. The Chairman Dr Zaid Bakht and Managing Director & CEO of Agrani Bank Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam handed over the cash and PPEs to the Principal Secretary of the PM Dr. Ahmed Kaikaus.
