The general inflation marked a 0.08 percentage point rise in March of the current calendar year due to price hike of different food items.
The inflation rate went up to 5.55 per cent in March 2019, which was 5.47 per cent in the previous month, says a report on UNB agency.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) data show that food inflation increased to 5.72 per cent in March from 5.44 per cent in February.
But the non-food inflation rate declined to 5.29 per cent in March, which was 5.51 per cent in February.
The prices of fish, meat, vegetables, edible oil, fruits and other food items increased in March, the BBS data show.
