Regulator asks banks to use Bangla in loan approval letters

The central bank has asked the scheduled banks to use Bangla in loan approval letters for implementing the objective of the "Bengali Language Introduction Act, 1987”.

A Bangladesh Bank (BB) circular, issued on Sunday, said, "All banks will have to use Bangla in loan approval letters for implementing the goal of the Bengali Language Introduction Act, 1987 and protecting the client’s interest."

But, the circular published by the banking regulator read, banks can also make loan approval letters in English as well as Bangla.

BSS reports that the circular also said the instruction will be effective from July 1 this year.
