Bangladesh sent a record over1.0 million workers abroad with jobs in 2017, highest in the history of overseas employment sector.
Earlier the highest number was 875,055 in 2008.
The country started sending workers in 1976 with 6087 jobs, according to manpower bureau data.
The data showed a total of 100, 8525 workers went overseas with employment in 2017, of them 122,000 were women.
The growth of employment increased about 33 per cent in 2017 compared to that of previous year. Some 757,731 workers secured jobs abroad in 2016.
The maximum number about 0.5 million workers went in Saudi Arabia followed by 0.1 million in Malaysia and 0.90 million in Oman during 2017, the statistics also said.
