The National Economic Council (NEC) is set to approve a Tk 1.73 trillion worth of Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the next fiscal today (Thursday), officials said Wednesday.
The Council, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will sit tomorrow at the Planning Commission (PC) Dhaka where the upcoming proposed ADP is likely to be placed for approval, they said.
PC officials said the ADP outlay for the next financial year (FY2018-19) is Tk 154.06 billion, which is 9.77 per cent higher than that in the revised allocation in the current fiscal (FY2018).
With the proposed Tk 1.73 trillion ADP outlay, the PC will also propose to allocate Tk 78.69 billion funds for the state-owned autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies in the development budget.
Meanwhile, the Extended Committee of the PC on May 3 this year has recommended approval of the draft ADP for the next fiscal.
PC officials said they had drafted a Tk1.73 trillion worth of development budget for FY2019 where Tk 1.13 trillion will come from the government’s internal resources while the remaining Tk 600 billion will come from the external resources as the project aid.
A PC official said the transport sector has been proposed highest Tk 454.49 billion funds, which is 24.29 per cent of the total ADP outlay, in the upcoming development budget for the FY2019.
The second highest allocation was offered for the Power Sector which has got Tk 229.30 billion or 13.25 per cent of the total allocations.
The Infrastructure Planning, Water Supply and Housing sector has been proposed third highest fund with Tk 178.90 billion (10.34 per cent), the Rural Development and Rural Institutions sector fourth highest with Tk 166.90 billion (9.65 per cent) and the Education and Religion sector fifth highest with Tk 166.20 billion (9.61 per cent) at the proposed Tk 1.73 trillion ADP for the next fiscal.
