Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said journalists should write about the development and achievements of Bangladesh marking golden jubilee of the country.
"The country will step into its 50 years in 2021. So I am asking the reporters to start writing a book on it," Muhith said.
The minister made the suggestion while inaugurating the office of Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) at Paltan Tower in Dhaka on Thursday, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir was present at the programme as special guest.
He said the ERF took 25 years after establishing to launch their own office.
"They will become an economic reporting institution within a shorter time," the governor expressed his hope.
He also said, "The economy of the country is flourishing as well as the economic reporting is also getting bigger shape and now it is time to increase the quality of it."
Fazle Kabir assured that if the forum starts providing skill development training to the economic reporters they will support it from the central bank because, to him, objective and good reporting are important for economic development.
Shykh Seraj, director of news of Channel I, Mohammed Farashuddin, former governor of Bangladesh Bank also spoke, among others.
ERF President Saiful Islam Dilal presided over the programme.
