Money market operations to continue during holidays

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has taken a decision to keep open the operations of repurchase agreement (Repo) and interbank call money market in a limited scale during the general holidays for managing the liquidity risk due to interbank transactions.

“Interested banks will submit Repo tender in the securities department of the Bangladesh Bank Motijheel office within 12.30pm after filling up necessary forms as per rules,” according to a BB circular issued on Tuesday, reports BSS.

The participating banks in the interbank call money market will send their transactions statement to the Debt Management Department within 12.30pm, the circular added.

Earlier, the central bank took a decision to keep open the Bangladesh Automated Clearing House (BACH) in a limited scale during the ongoing general holidays.

Banking activities are running in a limited scale in the week to facilitate the financial transactions for the clients during the ongoing general holidays due to coronavirus outbreak.
