The government of Bangladesh has imposed an indefinite ban on export of certain categories of raw jute, said an official source.
The embargo on export came on Thursday in response to the requests put forth by the local industries for ensuring quality jute for them.
The ban was imposed through a circular, issued by the Ministry of Jute and Textile.
Un-cut, BTR and BWR categories of raw jute have been brought under the ban.
Other categories of raw jute, according to the circular, remain free for export.
